Namco produced two maze-solving robots in 1980 and 1981. The robots are the inspiration for the game Mappy (and they look very much like the game's characters)
Goro was first created in 1980 and weighs 27kg (59.5 lbs.). Goro is one of the largest robots by Namco and is worth 40 million yen.
Mappy was created in 1981 to accompany the Goro robot. Mappy is smaller and more compact only weighing 4.3kg (9.4 lbs.). Mappy is worth 20 million yen. A toy version of the robot was released, with a customizable maze, ad a Mewkey pawn that acts as a goal
